As part of the “Friday Nights at the de Young” series, teaching artist Evelyn Orantes will demonstrate the process of transforming the cacao bean into a chocolate beverage. Visitors will see how cacao seeds are ground, how to froth the liquid, and explore the spices that are used to create traditional drinking chocolate.
Plus live Marimba music by Mi Bella Guatemala, hands on art making, learn to make art with chocolate and more.
About Friday Nights at the De Young
On Friday nights the entire museum is open until 8:45 p.m. Friday Nights at the de Young offers a variety of interdisciplinary arts programs, including live music, poetry, films, dance, tours, and lectures. The cafe is open with a special Friday Nights dinner menu, and a no-host cocktail bar is serving drinks. There are art making activities for everyone. All Friday Night programming is free unless otherwise noted.
