Friday Nights at the de Young offers a variety of interdisciplinary arts programs, including live music, poetry, films, dance, tours, talks and more. Season Eight is every Friday night from March 30 – November 23, 2012.
This weekly after-hours art “happening” changes every week, but typically includes a mix of live music, dance performances, film screenings, panel discussions, lectures, artist demonstrations, special performances, hands-on art activities and more. Plus the observation tower is open until 8:15pm.
July 27, 2012: La Milonga de Gaultier
Celebrate the romance and sensuality of Jean Paul Gaultier with Argentine tango in a whirl of music, dance, love, and fashion presented by Trio Garufa and TangoCalifia. This evening features a variety of tango dancers on stage from 6:00 to 6:45 and live music by Trio Garufa (6:45–7:15 and 7:45–8:15 p.m.).

Friday Nights at the de Young offers a variety of free interdisciplinary arts programs, including live music, poetry, films, dance, tours, and lectures every Friday night. The above listed activities for “Friday Nights at the de Young” are free and located in the public spaces of the museum. But please note that even on Friday nights, the museums’ galleries are not free and require a regular admission ticket.
