The evening will include a keynote from Google’s Head of Developer Advocacy, Reto Meier followed by a panel from key players in the field from companies like Pandora and Slack

There is plenty of opportunity for those looking to enter the mobile app development field as an Android developer. These are still the early days, and those who join now are nothing short of early adopters. What does a day in the life of an Android developer look like?

Speakers:

  • Kasra Rahjerdi, Mobile Team Lead, Stack Overflow
    Kasra Rahjerdi is the mobile team lead at Stack Overflow, managing the creation of their iOS and Android applications. He has worked with the Android SDK since its inception and has had a role in the development of more than a dozen applications available on the Play Store and Apple App Store.
  • Steve Cary, Senior Manager, Android, Slack
    Steve Cary is a Senior Manager at Slack Technologies where he leads the Android team. He and the team recently shipped a complete rewrite of the Slack Android client. Steve also spends much of his day trying to find high quality candidates to join the growing Android team. Prior to Slack, Steve worked at Index (index.com) and at Google on several teams, most recently as part of the team that launched Google Mobile NFC Wallet.
  • Jen Mendez, Senior Software Engineer, Pandora
    Jen Mendez is a Sr. Software Engineer at Pandora. She has spent most of her professional career building consumer-facing music and entertainment products that reach millions of users at companies such as LiveNation, Ticketmaster and Pandora. She is passionate about Android UI performance and platform fragmentation challenges.
  • Joy Chen, Software Engineer, Medium
    Joy Chen is a Software Engineer at Medium, and previously researched at the MIT Media Lab. In June, Joy was one of 3 engineers that engineered Medium’s Android app, which has already been downloaded more than 100,000 times, has been featured in the Play Store, and has earned a 4.5 star rating.
