A National Historic Landmark, San Francisco’s Port of Embarkation, once known as the “Gateway to the Pacific,” has evolved from a military base to Fort Mason Center, a destination for thought-provoking programs, events, and organizations.
On January 9, 2015, learn about the past and evolution to the present, enjoy spectacular Bay views, the Gas House Cove, and unique and special architecture. Discover the important role of nearby Lobos Square in San Francisco history.
The walking tour starts at 1 pm at the Gatehouse, just inside the Main Gate and lasts about 90 minutes. There is no fee, but donations are accepted.
