Join Alta and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music for a panel discussion on women’s emerging roles in classical music, the issues and challenges female musicians face, and the future of inclusivity in music. Moderated by SFCM faculty member, author, opera singer, and neuroscientist Indre Viskontas, this event will offer an honest and hopeful look at women’s work within classical music by our panel of accomplished San Francisco-based female musicians, including Nicole Paiement of Opera Parallèle, Cordula Merks of San Francisco Ballet Orchestra, and Melissa Kleinbart of the San Francisco Symphony. Viskontas, Paiement, and Merks are all members of the SFCM faculty.

This discussion aims to expand upon Catherine Womack’s feature in Alta’s Summer 2019 issue on L.A. Phil’s mission of inclusivity and equity.
