Summertime Fun Recycling Show | East Bay

insidesalmonFrom July 17 – 26, 2014, Evelyn Roth, internationally renowned eco-arts pioneer, textile and performance artist, will be in the East Bay for The Evelyn Roth Arts Residency.

See the full schedule of family and kid-friendly eco arts events, workshops, talks and performances. Many are free.

There will be 10 days of engaging, family friendly community arts and eco-events; most of them are free to the public, to focus public awareness on issues of climate change, global warming, vanishing species, pollution, and recycling. These will take place primarily at Expressions Gallery in Berkeley and at various East Bay venues including Oakland’s Uptown Art Park, Firehouse Art Event Hangar in Berkeley, East Bay senior and teen centers, and at the Oakland Zoo.

Come to the Opening Night for “Summertime Fun Recycling Show” at Expressions Gallery in Berkeley featuring displays of recycled art by gifted CA artists using re-purposed materials, along with Evelyn Roth’s wearable art, featuring her live Wheatgrass Cape and VHS designer gown, and unique jewelry crafted from natural forms and resins.

You can look forward to:

  • Informal VHS recycled videotape demos by Evelyn Roth
  • “Bear Necessities,” a Nylon Zoo Polar Bears inflatable glow on the outdoor patio with storytelling by master storyteller, Mark Jeffers
  • Endangered species, polar bear paintings by painter, John Davis, with a short talk by Davis on global warming
  • Music by Spiral Dance Chamber Jazz
  • Beverages, wine and hors d’oeuvres
  • Book signing of Roth’s “The Recycled Art Book”
  • Roth vintage videos
  • A 30-Year Evelyn Roth Retrospective
