Event Details

There are no orioles in Baltimore Canyon, but there are giants. Before mill owners from Maryland—that’s how the canyon got its name—logged the original forest in the 1850s, Baltimore Canyon was home to some of the Bay Area’s largest redwoods. Since then, the redwoods have re-sprouted, gone through tree puberty, and once again tower over us puny humans.

Free, but an RSVP is required.

This wooded canyon isn’t a good venue for professional baseball, but it is perfect for a post-Valentine’s Day escape. This 5-mile hike through the forest will also take us by Dawn Falls, a gorgeous 30-foot cascade.
