GLIDE’s Annual Holiday Jam: Rise Up For Change is going virtual for the fist time ever on Thursday, November 19th and will feature a joyful, star-studded evening of music, celebration and community benefitting GLIDE’s programs and services. The evening will bring together GLIDE’s supporters and community members virtually, for a special program of live-streamed performances intermingled with archival footage of outstanding moments in Holiday Jam history. The list of artists participating includes India.Arie, Joan Baez, Lisa Fischer, Michael Franti, Goapele, Tom Johnston, Ledisi, and D’Wayne Wiggins, GLIDE Church’s Marvin K. White and the GLIDE Ensemble and The Change Band. Renel Brooks-Moon will return as the evening’s emcee.
In the face of the extreme public health, economic and racial justice crises of 2020, GLIDE has continued to support the city’s most marginalized residents every day on the frontlines of poverty and need. The 2020 GLIDE Annual Holiday Jam: Rise Up for Change will celebrate the spirit of this collective action in this moment in which so many are speaking out for the voiceless and for social progress. The program will highlight GLIDE’s hands-on role in driving systemic change to address poverty, homelessness, and racial and social inequities.
“Now, more than ever, it is important to come together and lift up marginalized voices by demanding racial justice and social progress,” said GLIDE President and CEO Karen Hanrahan. “We look forward to an evening of soulful music, powerful spoken word and celebration to raise awareness of GLIDE’s life-saving work and leadership in fighting injustices.”
Each year, the GLIDE Annual Holiday Jam raises funds for GLIDE’s integrated comprehensive programs that address some of society’s most pressing issues, including poverty, housing and homelessness, and racial and social justice. GLIDE continues to serve San Francisco’s most vulnerable residents by providing three free meals daily (up to 15,000 a week), counseling, harm reduction programs and other essential services not only on-site at GLIDE but across the city.
The GLIDE Annual Holiday Jam will be virtual, and there is no cost to join. RSVP at glide.org/holidayjam for all the latest updates. GLIDE asks that viewers consider making a donation or becoming a sponsor to help support GLIDE’s life-saving and life-changing services. In addition to promotional benefits, sponsors of this year’s Holiday Jam will receive special access to a pre-event VIP Virtual Reception as well as hand-delivered Gala Kits (limited to the Bay Area) or mailed Gala Swag Bags. Each Gala Kit serves 4 guests and will include custom cocktails, gourmet treats, GLIDE merchandise and more. Gala Swag Bags will include GLIDE merchandise and party treats.
