Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary (GFNMS) Advisory Council (SAC) will meet virtually via Google Meet on Thursday, February 18, 2021. During the meeting, which is open to the public, the SAC will receive reports from Greater Farallones, Monterey Bay, and Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary superintendents, receive an update on enforcement actions in GFNMS, review their council charter, and hear a presentation on the upcoming GFNMS Condition Report. A public comment period is scheduled for 11:40-11:50 a.m.; the SAC is also accepting written comments submitted by February 17 at 5 p.m. PST. Registration is required for verbal public comment; details are included in the meeting agenda. Visit https://farallones.noaa.gov/manage/sac_meetings.html for the meeting agenda and details.

The SAC advises the sanctuary superintendent on priority issues and connects local communities with the sanctuary, while providing opportunities for information exchange on issues affecting the health of the sanctuary ecosystem. SAC meetings are an opportunity for the public to comment on sanctuary activities and inform SAC recommendations. Non-governmental members represent a variety of interests including fishing activities, conservation, research, communities, education, and maritime activities. Government seats represent the National Parks Service, National Marine Fisheries Service, California Department of Natural Resources, US Fish & Wildlife Service, and US Coast Guard.
