You are invited to a special zoom event: Evan Kennedy Book Launch: I am, I am….
with special guests Brian Blanchfield, Bruno Darío, and Kit Schluter .
Evan Kennedy is a poet and bicyclist residing in San Francisco, and is the author of Jerusalem Notebook (O’clock Press). He runs the occasional press Dirty Swan Projects. Evan’s new work, whose influences would include Bruce Boone and Kevin Killian lies somewhere between lyrical poetry and memoir, and his unique voice has the quotidian aspect of new narrative.
Brian Blanchfield is the author of three books of poetry and prose, most recently Proxies: Essays Near Knowing. Recipient of emerging and mid-career awards including the Academy of American Poets and a finalist for the National Book Award. He teaches in the MFA programs at the University of Idaho and the Bennington Writing Seminars. Brian will read from recent work.
Bruno Dario will read his poems in Spanish and Kit Schluter will read English translations he made of them; they’ll be reading in the same room in Mexico City.
Bruno Darío’s recent books include: celebración, espanto [feast, fright], and mal de aire [airsickness]. Both are part of an in-process project. Recent publications: Periódico de poesía, National University of Mexico (2020), and Letras Libres (2019).
Kit Schluter is author of Pierrot’s Fingernails (Canarium Books, 2020) and 5 Cartoons (Juan Malasuerte, 2019). He is also the translator of The Book of Monelle and The Children’s Crusade by Marcel Schwob, as well as numerous other books by French and Spanish language authors. He lives in Mexico City.
