Event Details

Dr. Joshua Miele will present a keynote talk at the David Rumsey Map Center at Stanford about his remarkable story as a blind cartographer. He will talk about how blind people navigate and the ways touch–through tactile maps and graphics–can be used to understand many kinds of spatial information. He will discuss historical techniques for creating tactile maps, examples and counterexamples of tactile map use cases, and promising technologies for expanding the availability of accessible maps in the future.
