Hike It Up: Fort Funston, Stern Grove & Brewery Hike | SF

Join in on a fun hike that explores Fort Funston with gorgeous ocean views.

To join in meet at the Daly City Cart and walk by Lake Merced to Fort Funston. Although with the ocean visible at all times, you’ll never be lost, there’s plenty of unpredictability in these dunes. A wrong turn off the main trail might bring you to a dense thicket of willow, with a 5 foot tall passage worn under the branches. This dark secret tunnel delivers you, blinking, back into the bright sunlight of the dunes. It’s an Alice in Wonderland kind of experience.

Following the adventure in the dunes, cross the Zoo and then dip your toes into Stern Grove’s Pine Lake (figuratively not literally) and because you know you haven’t walked quite enough, then walk through the Sunset district to Sunset Reservior Brewery.

This is a hike from A to B, so the group will not return to Daly City Bart, but there is public transit available from the brewery.
