Visible from the entire Tri-Valley, Highland Ridge stretches from Windy Point and Mt. Diablo State Park along the edge of Riggs Canyon southeast toward Morgan Territory Regional Preserve and Livermore. The property is situated just below the summit of Highland Peak and offers amazing views to the south and it also provides crucial habitat for sensitive species. The distance of the hike is short, but it is strenuous due to the incredibly steep topography; scrambling up steep drainages will be a feature of the hike. Prepare for hot weather by wearing layers, a hat, and plenty of sunscreen. Wear sturdy running shoes or hiking boots and bring water and snacks.
