Hip Hop Wednesdays: $300 Rap Battle (Berkeley)

Wednesday, March 4, 2026 - 8:00 pm to 12:00 am | Cost: FREE*
*Come and be part of the Cypher

Cali's Sports Bar & Kitchen | 2367 Telegraph Avenue Berkeley, CA 94704

Event Details

Flow Lounge exists for one reason: to rebuild space for real Hip Hop culture.

Not content farms. Not industry gatekeeping. Not algorithm rap.

Every Wednesday, MCs, writers, and Hip Hop heads gather in a live, community-rooted environment where skill matters, presence matters, and the crowd becomes part of the culture again. This is Hip Hop happening in real time — raw, unpredictable, and earned.

Flow Lounge is an incubator: a weekly space where artists grow, audiences witness authenticity, and culture is built face-to-face instead of filtered through a screen.

The Rap Writing Contest

MCs compete live by writing and performing to a surprise topic and beat. The audience decides who advances, and the energy builds round by round until one artist takes the crown.

$300 in Cash Prizes

  • 🥇 1st Place — $150

  • 🥈 2nd Place — $100

  • 🥉 3rd Place — $50

For Emcees (Contest Instructions)

Think you’ve got bars? Step into the cypher.

How it works:

  • Only 12 contest slots available each week

  • Registration happens on-site only (first come, first served)

  • MCs receive the same topic and beat

  • You’ll have limited time to write your verse live

  • Perform your verse for the crowd

  • Audience voting determines who advances through each round

Topics and beats are announced weekly — stay ready.

Follow on Instagram for weekly updates, topics, and beats:

Arrive early if you plan to compete. Slots fill fast.

For Spectators (The Crowd Is Part of the Show)

You’re not just watching — you’re part of the experience.

Flow Lounge brings you inside the creative process:

  • Watch artists write and perform in real time

  • Discover emerging voices before they blow up

  • Help decide who advances through crowd voting

  • Experience Hip Hop as a living culture, not background music

Whether you come for the bars, the energy, or the community, every Wednesday builds something new.

Why Flow Lounge Exists

Hip Hop needs physical spaces to survive — rooms where artists can develop, collaborate, and test their craft in front of real people. Flow Lounge is rebuilding that ecosystem one week at a time.

If you’ve been looking for a night that feels like Hip Hop again, this is it.
