Event Details

MCs, DJs, promoters, journalists – women have helped build hip-hop culture since its foundation. Yet in a male-dominated music industry, many of their stories aren’t told. It’s time to correct the record with a night of intergenerational conversations and performances. Nastia Voynovskaya, co-editor of KQED’s That’s My Word series chronicling Bay Area hip-hop’s histories, is joined by female MCs who built a rap sisterhood in the ’90s, as well as up-and-coming artists following in their footsteps and creating their own lanes.

Presented by KQED Live
