Event Details

Be transported to a time when glorious mansions of San Francisco industrialists dotted East Oakland, and a wandering horticulturalist crossed America with 700 fruit trees, giving Fruitvale its name.

This is a free lecture about the Fruitvale neighborhood, presented by Pamela Magnusen-Peddle (author of Fruitvale on Foot).

It’s hosted by the Peralta Hacienda Historical Park, an organization determined to remind people that Oakland has, deep beneath that layer of dirt, mischief and mistrust people often see, a rich and interesting history all its own.
