Event Details

Join for a fun afternoon inspired by the theme of cameras and photography. All supplies are included.

Activities Include:

  • Join a special family tour of Boomtowns: How Photography Shaped Los Angeles and San Francisco with CHS staff member, Erik at 2 pm
  • Add your own building or landscape to our Boomtowns back-drop! Then, take a photo with it and share with friends
  • Design your own cardboard camera with the staff and volunteers of the California Historical Society
  • Peopleologie will help you make your own original photographs, no camera required! Use everyday objects, special paper, and the sun
  • Imagine, design, and document your own Boomtown with the Museum of Craft and Design! You will use collage elements from both vintage and contemporary magazines to build a 2D rendering inspired by the exhibition. Then, use an instant camera to photograph your city-scape in black and white and watch as your Boomtown develops right before your eyes
