The Irish Arts & Writers Festival brings together Irish writers and audiences in the historic and intimate town of Los Gatos, CA (located an hour south of San Francisco) for an arts and culture festival.
2018 IAWF “Irish Music & Dancing”
Saturday, October 13, 2018 | 1:30 pm to 5:45 pm
Civic Center Plaza Stage, 106 East Main Street, Los Gatos
FREE ( Donations are appreciated)Kennelly Irish Dancers kick off this free event, followed by The Toast Inspectors playing a blend of Irish, American and other folk songs on a variety of instruments including, mandolin, tenor guitar, uilleann pipes, banjo, guitar and bodhrán.
Shana Morrisson & Caledonia will perform at 4 pm, their musical style has been called pop with a side of blues and a side of rock and includes a broad range of influences such as blues, R&B, country, rock and jazz.
While the bulk of her performances showcase her own diverse and mature songwriting talents, Morrison throws in a few choice cover tunes by such greats as John Lee Hooker, Bill Withers or papa, Van Morrison
The event accompanies a literary session with readings from “Bullets Into Bells” “Trouble Songs” and “In Another World: Van Morrison’s Belfast”.
