JAYNE FOSTER (b. 1973, Welwyn Garden City, UK) transitioned from a successful career in fashion design to become a renowned printmaker. After earning her master’s degree in womenswear from the Royal College of Art in 2001, Jayne worked as a fashion designer in London. Her venture into the visual arts began in 2007 at Central St. Martin’s, where she explored etching presses and printmaking, blurring the lines between illustration and abstraction.

In 2012, Jayne relocated to California and dedicated herself to mastering monotype printmaking. Her significant shift came in 2018, when she joined the Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, CA, as an Artist-in-Residence—a role she continues to this day, producing much of her work from the Kala studio.

Jayne’s prints are known for their vibrant colors, evocative forms, and a dynamic mix of patterns and textures, often reflecting her fashion background through techniques derived from pattern cutting and fabric detailing. Her work has been exhibited extensively across the UK and USA, celebrating her unique approach to printmaking.
