Hosted by Berkeley High Jazz, JazzGirls Day is a half-day happening that invites elementary and middle school female-identified or non-binary musicians who play or sing jazz – or are thinking about trying it out – to join professional female jazz musicians and educators for master classes, jam sessions, and a performance/concert by female jazz players.
Featuring Erika Oba (piano), Irene Sazer (violin), Yuki Nagase (bass), Mara Fox (trombone), Daria Johnson (drums), Sarah Cline (trombone), J.J. Hansen (vocals & piano), Kasey Knudsen (saxophone), Nancy Boyles (flute & saxophone), Janice Maxie-Reid (vocals & piano), Jean Fineberg (saxophone, flute & drums) and others.
“Bring your friends,” says Sarah Cline. “Even if they don’t play jazz…. yet.”
