In the intimate atmosphere of a house concert, experience jazz, contemporary, and classical music, and enjoy opportunities to converse with performers and each other. Offered in partnership with the San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music.
Legendary Bay Area jazz and blues singer Faye Carol presents a very special program on the occasion of Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday.
Faye Carol remains true to her Mississippi roots, infusing the blues into everything she sings, from soul and R&B to the cabaret tradition. She began her career immersed in gospel, touring nationally with The Angelaires in the 1960s. She formed her jazz ensemble in the 1970s and was also active in Oakland’s innovative funk scene. She has shared the stage with many notable artists through the decades. Most recently, she has been heard with The Marcus Shelby Jazz Orchestra, Howard Wiley & The Angola Project, Sista Kee & IOP, and Mal Sharpe’s Big Money in Jazz Band.
