Saxophonist and composer Charlie Gurke leads the Gurkestra, a quartet of the Bay’s best jazz musicians performing a repertoire honed the old fashioned way, at late night jam sessions in a dimly-lit dive bar. But the music of the Gurkestra is anything but old fashioned, featuring fresh interpretations of material ranging from folk songs to classics from the american songbook to original repertoire.
