Taking its theme from “Tale of Heike,” the play features an all-star cast in one of Kabuki’s most famous tragedies. Only the greatest Kabuki actors are able to portray the grand tragic figure of Kumagai, who is torn amongst loyalty to his lord, a debt of gratitude to his enemy, and devotion to his family. In Japanese with English translation.
