Event Details

In celebration of 10 years of live theater in San Francisco, GenerationTheatre offers his audience a free run of Knock or the Triumph of Medicine, by Jules Romains, translated and directed by Roland David Valayre, with Fabien Ferhani, Karen Sellinger, R. David Valayre, Vishalini Mona Vimal, and Ket Watters.

When broke and ambitious Dr. Knock arrives in the small French village of Saint-Maurice, no one cares much about medicine – least of all retiring Dr. Parpalaid, who typically prescribed chamomile and a good night’s sleep for most ailments. Knock’s ambition is to boost what he calls “medical penetration” in the county – not so much the peace of mind of the population as the value of his practice. For Dr. Knock, “a person in good health is a sick person in denial.”
