SF’s Yerba Buena Gardens Festival 2026

The 2026 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival hosts a full lineup of free outdoor music, theater, circus, dance, poetry, and children’s programs. The Festival opens on Saturday, May 9, 2026 with Hermán Olivera y Orquesta Taíno to kick off its 26th season. The Festival features over 100 free performances from May to November in Downtown San Francisco.

La Mixta Criolla is a dynamic Bay Area ensemble with deep roots in the creole music of the Caribbean. Blending instruments and styles from diverse Afro-Latin traditions, this hard swinging septet has captivated dancers and music lovers everywhere with soulful performances of singular strength and beauty. Their repertoire of originals and funky renditions of classic tunes features a variety of Afro-Caribbean grooves from plena, bomba, aguinaldo and seis, to cumbia, merengue, rumba and salsa. La Mixta was founded by percussionist, singer and songwriter Héctor Lugo and features an all-star cast with Román Ito Carillo on bongó, pandero and barril, Javier Navarrette on congas and cajón, Ayla Dávila on bass, Camilo Landau on electric cuatro, Keyla Badillo on vocals, and Pedro Pastrana on güícharo and Puerto Rican cuatro. Bring your dancing shoes and let La Mixta take you on a musical ride through el Caribe.
