The Lawrence Hall of Science is celebrating its 50th anniversary. In May 1968, they opened our doors to the public for the first time.

Join them for a free day of science fun as they kick off a year of special events and programs to celebrate 50 years of hands-on science learning.

Fan Favorite Activities
All of your favorite Hall activities, from the Animal Discovery Room to the Ingenuity Lab, will be open and free to the public. Additional charges may apply for experiences such as the National Geographic 3D Theater.

Explore the Universe in the Planetarium
Free, 12:00 noon–4:00 p.m.

Come to our free, drop-in presentations in the Lawrence Hall of Science Planetarium. Explore the Solar System and fly beyond the edge of the galaxy. Your astronomy questions will push our interactive Planetarium to full throttle.

Science Show: Solids, Liquids, Gases
Free, 11:30 a.m. & 2:00 p.m.

Discover what is possible when matter, energy, and you interact in the phase-changing, mind-bending world of solids, liquids, and gases.

Chemistry-Powered Vehicles
Free, 11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Learn how science can help you get around as you design, build, and test your own chemistry-powered vehicles. Construct your own rockets and boats out of recycled materials.
