Meet the Authors of Legal Marijuana: Perspectives on Public Benefits, Risks, and Policy Approaches, Joaquin Jay Gonzalez III and Mickey P. McGee.

Though legalization of marijuana for medicinal and adult use (a.k.a. “recreational”) is growing state by state and country by country, not everyone believes it to be a good idea.

This collection of essays by the speakers examines the controversies, risks, and challenges surrounding these issues in public policy and market actions.

Panelists include:

  • Mick McGee, DPA, co-editor “Legal Marijuana: Perspectives on Public Benefits, Risks, and Policy Approaches”
  • Patrick Murphy, PhD, policy director of fiscal and governance reform and a senior fellow at the Public Policy Institute of California.
  • Alan Roper, PhD, Instructional Designer/Curriculum Developer at the University of California discusses “Environment, Energy & Marijuana”
  • Jim Hynes, MCP & MPH, Executive Manager with City of Berkeley discusses “Berkeley & Marijuana”
  • Samira Perry, EMPA, Social Justice Entrepreneur on “Business Thoughts”
  • Beth Greene, MUP, Senior Planner, Secretary to the Cannabis Commission, Planning and Development Department, City of Berkeley
