Event Details

Leon Frank Litwack (1929-2021) taught American history to more college students than most other professors in the discipline, and almost entirely at the same place: U.C. Berkeley. Given the duration of his time at Berkeley, and the perennial popularity of his courses, Litwack is estimated to have taught over 35,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The year that he retired, he accepted one of his most cherished prizes of all: the student-selected Golden Apple Award for Outstanding Teaching.
