Event Details

This is not your Auntie Ethyl’s poetry reading–unless she likes her poetry loud and sweaty, anyway.

Join us for the world premiere of Lit Slam, a live audience-curated literary night where the Editors of a poetry journal (to be published at the end of the season by Bicycle Comics) are randomly selected from the crowd and decide the fate of eight competing poets.

The winner after three rounds secures a truly unique prize: A publishing deal, and with it the chance to be heard and read by many more people.

Headliner: A performance by Jamaal “Versiz” May–a nationally celebrated poetic hotshot with more charm and talent than every season of American Bandstand combined–in an exclusive Bay Area appearance during his national tour.
