Literary Speed Dating? | Main Library

In honor of Valentine’s Day, San Francisco Public Library hosts its first-ever Literary Speed Dating events. Participants are encouraged to bring a book they loved, hated or just want to talk about, for an ice-breaker. Windows of 4-5 minutes will be given for couples to briefly get to know one another and when time is up participants rotate to the next person.

Mingle time and very light refreshments will be served at 5:45 p.m., speed dating will begin at 6 p.m., and end at 7:45 pm.

Two speed dating events will be held. One on Tuesday, Feb. 1 for the straight community and one on Wednesday, Feb. 2 for the LGBT community.

The events are for adults in their 20s and 30s and due to limited space, pre-registration is required. Participants will meet potential dates and friends anonymously. Each person will be given a number which they will use as identification. When matches are made, names and contact information will be given out later after the event. We encourage participants to arrive early because of the nature of these events; “no-shows” or those who arrive late will forfeit their place on the registration list to those on the wait-lists who are present. Please contact ddrummond@sfpl.org or come in-person to the Business Science and Technology Center reference desk on the 4th floor of the Main Library to sign up.

Disclaimer: Please double check event information with the event organizer as events can be canceled, details can change after they are added to our calendar, and errors do occur.
