SF’s Yerba Buena Gardens Festival 2025
The 2025 Yerba Buena Gardens Festival hosts a full lineup of free outdoor music, theater, circus, dance, poetry, and children’s programs. The Festival opens on Saturday, May 10, 2025 with La Santa Cecilia to kick off its 25th Anniversary Season.
Poetry Tuesday will feature readings by four poets curated by Litquake’s Robin Ekiss. Plus there will be music by La Gente, a Bay Area-based international recording group led by Colombian/Nicaraguan San Francisco born singer-songwriter Rafael Sarria. The group has created its own unique multi-lingual blend of reggae, cumbia, hip-hop, salsa, reggaeton, and world music.
Brenda Montano is a Raza Studies and journalism student at SFSU. Her work has been published in the bilingual newspaper El Tecolote and Flies, Cockroaches and Poets, a journal of the Chican@ Writers and Artists Association at Fresno State.
Javier Zamora was born in El Salvador. At the age of nine he immigrated to the “Yunaited Estais.” His chapbook, Nine Immigrant Years, is the winner of the 2011 Organic Weapon Arts Contest.
Javier O. Huerta is the author of American Copia: An Immigrant Epic (Arte Público Press 2012) and is currently a doctoral candidate in English Literature at the University of California, Berkeley.
Raina J. León has been published in numerous publications, including her book, Canticle of Idols, and forthcoming book, Boogeyman Dawn. She also is a founding editor of The Acentos Review.
