In Conversation: Visionaries Virgil Abloh and Moved by the Motion with curator Eungie Joo

This evening comprises an intimate conversation with creative force Virgil Abloh and Moved by the Motion collaborators Tosh Basco, Josh Johnson, Asma Maroof and Wu Tsang, hosted by SFMOMA Curator of Contemporary Art Eungie Joo. Among other impressive endeavors, Abloh is currently Chief Creative Director and founder of Off-White, and Men’s Artistic Director at Louis Vuitton. Moved by the Motion is a “band” of interdisciplinary artists that has created live performance and film since 2013. The group most frequently includes filmmaker Wu Tsang, performance artist Tosh Basco, experimental cellist Patrick Belaga, choreographer Josh Johnson, electronic musician Asma Maroof and poet Fred Moten. Moved by the Motion is currently in residence at the Schauspielhaus Zurich and is a collaborator for the upcoming exhibition New Work: Wu Tsang opening at SFMOMA this October. The talk will depart from Abloh’s recent collaboration with Moved by the Motion on the film, Peculiar Light, Perfect Contrast, featuring Louis Vuitton’s Men Fall Winter 2021 line and informed by James Baldwin’s essay Stranger in the Village.
