The Live in The Laurel (LITL) free concert series promises a great season of outstanding locally-based live music and homegrown fun in The Laurel. Each month, explore some rising stars and local favorites as they perform in intimate venues along MacArthur Boulevard.
Acclaimed international roots-reggae crooner, Junior Toots, the son of the legendary Toots Hibbert of Toots & The Maytals has been a mainstay in the recorded and live music scene for decades and with an ever-growing fanbase. He’s managed to captivate audiences worldwide with his electrifying high-energy stage performance, soul-filled vocals and socially charged lyricism, along with catchy, singalong Jamaican-rooted original tracks. @juniortoots
The Laurel celebrates Make Music day on June 21, an international celebration of creating and performing music. Make Music is open to anyone who wants to take part. Every kind of musician – young and old, amateur and professional, of every musical persuasion shares their music with friends, neighbors, and strangers. All of it is free and open to the public.
Now accepting entries from interested musicians to make music and host musicians! All venues will be based in the Laurel District. Simply enter your information using the Participate button at MakeMusicDay.org/oakland and we will do our best to match musicians with venues.
If you don’t want to register as a musician to perform, but would like to make music at the event, check out the Listings section as the date nears for where you can join the fun. We will be holding lessons and have a “petting zoo” of instruments at Communite Table (4171 MacArthur Blvd.).
Presented by the Laurel District Association, organizer of Make Music Day Oakland. Open to all from hip hop to opera to punk rock and more.
Participate in Make Music Day at MakeMusicDay.org/oakland.
Visitors are invited to enjoy the free music happening throughout the day.
