Reggae icon from Jamaica, Don Carlos, and The Reggae Angels from Bay Area will be performing on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. The doors are at 8pm and the music starts at 9pm. The Great American Music Hall is located at 859 O’Farrell Street in San Francisco.
Don Carlos is a classic, well-loved international reggae artist with a universal message. His live shows, which feature live horns, appeal to people of all ages and walks of life. Don sings about peace and love, generosity, and righteousness. In his lyrics, he thanks “Jah” for everything. He performs in Africa, Europe, and North and South America. Don is very popular in Africa. His 2010 show at the Kasarani Sports Grounds in Nairobi, Kenya made history drawing an estimated 150,000 people. Additionally, for the last decade, he has been singing as a special guest with Slightly Stoopid.
Don was the lead vocalist for Black Uhuru, from 1989 to 1994 during which time he toured and sang on four Black Uhuru albums – Now, Mystical Truths, Iron Storm and Strong. After the Black
Uhuru stretch, in the mid-90’s, Don joined forces with the California-based Reggae Angels, who initially backed him many years ago as he started doing more work in the western US.
The opening act, Reggae Angels, has been a staple in the worldwide reggae genre for over three decades. They are known to deliver high energy dynamic performances with a happy sound and a prophetic message. Known for their live shows, their many albums and their conscious message, the Reggae Angels have been gracing stages for many years around the globe. They have released 15 albums and performed on many major US and European festivals. Additionally, they have toured extensively in North and South America, Canada and Europe and Africa. They have done five US tours backed by Sly and Robbie and the Taxi Gang who also recorded on their latest three albums. They also toured with other legendary Reggae acts such as Don Carlos, Marcia Griffiths, Bitty Mclean, Anthony B, Mykal Rose, Luciano, The Abyssinians, Sugar Minott, Andrew Tosh, Warrior King, Prezident Brown, Junior Reid and Frankie Paul as well as touring on their own.
Reggae Angels deliver the message of the prophets reminding the people of the ways of peace and servanthood to the one God Almighty.
