Jackknife Gallery presents Marisa Rheem’s third solo show, “Loosey Goosey”, from August 5-31, 2021. Artist Reception Thursday, August 5th from 5-7pm. Food and drink will be served.
Marisa Rheem is a Contemporary Figurative acrylic painter with a concentration on street fashion. Born in 1989 in Washington D.C., she currently resides in the Bay Area and works out of her studio at Jackknife Studios in Oakland, CA. She is also a part-time art consultant at a pop art gallery in the Financial District of San Francisco. In 2014, she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Arts from the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, NM. Marisa has received awards for her paintings and has had her artwork displayed in multiple juried group shows, public collections, as well as, two solo exhibitions.
In November 2019, Marisa debuted her series “Impermanent Fascination,” her first solo exhibition which premiered at Jackknife Gallery in Oakland. Her second solo exhibition, “Momentary Captivation,” was displayed at the International Art Museum of America in San Francisco from November 2 – December 28, 2020.
Two of her paintings were accepted into the de Young Museum for a juried group show titled, “de Young Open,” from October 10, 2020 – January 3, 2021. Marisa also participated in a pop-up show with Jackknife Gallery at Flax Art & Design in Oakland from October 10 – December 31, 2020. This year she will be exhibited in a juried group show at the San Francisco Women Artists Gallery titled, “Slice of Life,” from February 9 – March 5, 2021. She was accepted into the San Francisco Women Artists Gallery juried show, “Bold Colors”, going on display from August 3-27. Her solo show, “Loosey Goosey” will be on display at Jackknife Gallery between August 5-31.
