Lost & Out of Print Film Night | Berkeley
LOOP (Lost and Out of Print) is an all ages movie night of obscure films in 16mm and other film formats of all genres at The Tannery in Berkeley, CA.
They also host monthly VHS swaps where you bring your old cartoons, obscure television shows with taped commercials, OOP horror, Sci-Fi, and other novelty items for trade or sale.
Admission and parking are free, but donations are accepted. Doors are at 7 pm; screening is at 7:30 pm.
This film follows the hunting of a giraffe by four members of the Ju/’hoansi (a !Kung Bushmen tribe) over a 13-day period in the Kalahari desert. The film consists of footage shot in 1952-53 on a Smithsonian-Harvard Peabody expedition.
In 2003, this film was deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” by the United States Library of Congress and selected for preservation in the National Film Registry.
