Loveboat: ’80s Yacht Rock Party with Mustache Harbor | 111 Minna

Loveboat is a nautically-themed early ’80s party captained by yacht rock masters Mustache Harbor. “Its like stepping on to the deck of the QE2 and being magically whisked away to the early 80s on a fantastic voyage of music and shenanigans.” -reporter. This party is on land – we wouldn’t want any poor sap drowning overboard.

– Walking onboard, what can I expect?
You will be greeted by beauties with leis around neck. Sip a tropical drink (pina coloda, margarita, mai tai, etc.), enjoy live music by amazing musicians and entertainers Mustache Harbor. Costumes are welcome! Be prepared for the elements – Live tropical thunderstorms and fog. Lasers – they were hot in the 80s and we see no exception now. Revel at a gorgeous view of the bay at night. Get your photo taken against a beautiful sunset backdrop with your friends, or your sweetie.

– COSTUMES you say?
You may come in costume (or not). You will admittedly have much more fun in costume and as a participant. You can be as ridiculous or as conservative as you’d like in costuming. Some ideas: captain, sailor, grass skirt and coconut bra, board shorts, shirts, mustaches, sunglasses, etc., get creative.

– So what is this so-called Yacht Rock anyway?
The year was 1982. Bands like Hall and Oates, Steely Dan, Michael McDonald, Kenny G, Stevie Nicks, Toto, Christopher Cross, to name a few dominated the airwaves armed only with mustaches and the cojones in their trousers. This term Yacht Rock is defined by popular soft rock that peaked between the years of 1975 and 1984.
