Galería de la Raza’s Lunada New Moon Fest marks the 25th anniversary of Lunada Literary Lounge and serves as the final stop of Litquake’s ¡Poetry on la Veinti Cuatro! crawl. The free event features poetry and spoken-word performances, musica, an open mic, a DJ and local vendors at Studio 24 in the Mission.

_🌌 🌒 Celebrate 25 years of literary magic under the moon at Lunada New Moon Fest!Mark your calendars for our final conjuring of the year happening on Saturday, October 10th. Lunada’s last celebration of the year will also be the final stop of ¡Poetry on la Veinti Cuatro! for this year’s Litquake.
Curated by Josiah Luis Alderete ¡Poetry on la Veinti Cuatro! is a 24th Street poetry crawl celebrating three Mission reading series that have been integral in shaping this neighborhood’s deep literary history: Poets in the Window at Medicine for Nightmares, Pan Dulce Poets at La Reyna Bakery, and La Lunada at Galería de la Raza.
Join us to cap off the day with even more performances curated by Norman Zelaya, a DJ, and vendors. We hope to see you there!

For the past 25 years, Lunada Literary Lounge has gathered on the full moon to honor spoken word, poetry, musica, and literatura. On its silver anniversary, Galería will instead gather under the new moon, holding three seasonal gatherings; the final gathering on October 10, 2026.
Although shrouded in darkness, the new moon signifies new beginnings, limitless possibilities, and rejuvenation.This lunar phase allows us to set intentions with a blank slate, and give ourselves and our community moments to re-energize with art and the words of our community during destabilization and high anxiety.
