Event Details

On Saturday, March 24,  from 2 to 4 pm, you’re invited to the Main Library for the free opening reception of The Magic City, a small but fascinating exhibit on the art and artists of the Golden Gate International Exposition.  Don’t miss the talk by TIMA Advisory Council member and New Deal scholar Dr. Gray Brechin, at 2:30.

Take a glimpse into the enchanted era of San Francisco’s Golden Gate International Exposition on Treasure Island. The Exposition was rich in artwork and featured the Art in Action program in 1940. This exhibit showcases examples of art at the fair executed by well known national and international sculptors, painters, musicians, performing artists and photographers.
