Event Details

Notable authors, artists, and conversation starters explore themes from ancient history to current events through interactive dialogues, stimulating talks, panels, and films.

In the spirit of the San Francisco Maritime Museum’s history of artistic engagement, We Players has invited eight Bay Area artists to produce site-specific works that engage maritime history, ecology, and the heritage of the museum.

This exhibition, which runs through June 17, is the first of several that We Players is curating at the Maritime Museum. Each exhibition will derive inspiration from the WPA-era museum building and surrounding aquatic park environs. Artists include: Torreya Cummings, Alicia Escott, Matt Gordon, Justin Hurty, Monica Lundy, Raphael Noz,Brandon Walls Olsen and Wafaa Yasin.

This panel discussion features artists presenting work in the exhibit as well as special National Park Service guests and will be moderated by We Players visual arts director Patrick Gillespie. The artists will discuss their practice and the unique challenges of working within a historic site.

Presented in association with We Players.

This event is free but due to space constraints registration is required. Please complete the registration process below. Please note that registering does not guarantee admission.
