Event Details

Green Apple Books welcome two debut novelists, James Hannaham and Jessica Anthony, to our Side Room Series, both published by McSweeney’s. Now it’s notoriously hard to draw a crowd for first-time novelists, but it’s also your chance to be the first to say “I read that. I met them.” And the McSweeney’s reputation precedes these two gifted writers, so you’ll come, right?

James Hannaham’s GOD SAYS NO introduces a groundbreaking new American voice: a writer of spectacular sentences who has trained his sights on a world that has hardly been touched by literary fiction. Topical and ambitious, disturbing and hilarious, GOD SAYS NO is everything a person could ask of a first novel — and twice that much. ”
—Jennifer Egan, author of Look at Me and The Keep

And Jessica Anthony’s debut novel The Convalescent was praised in Publisher’s Weekly as follows: “Anthony’s style—funny, immediate and unapologetically cerebral—carves out a space all its own.”
