Event Details

Join us as Deborah Madison discusses her memoir An Onion in My Pocket: My Life With Vegetables, following her life journey along with the story of the vegetarian movement.

Deborah Madison’s beloved cookbooks changed “vegetarian” from a negative word into a mainstream way of eating. “An Onion in My Pocket: My Life with Vegetables” follows Madison’s fascinating life story from her childhood in Northern California, to almost twenty years as an ordained Buddhist priest, to working in the kitchen at Chez Panisse. From the birth of food TV to the age of green markets everywhere. An Onion in My Pocket is Madison’s deeply personal look at the rise of vegetable-forward cooking and a manifesto for how to eat well.
