Composed by Bizet, director Francesca Zambello fills the stage with a profusion of detailed characters in one of the most popular operas of all times. Based on the novella by Prosper Mérimée, Carmen chronicles the downfall of a soldier, Don Jose, who is seduced by Carmen. But Carmen is in turn seduced by a toreador, thus spelling troubling.
