Event Details

Chinatown Alleyway Tours (CATs) is a non-profit youth-run, youth-led tour group that specializes in revealing stories and secrets hidden within Chinatown’s 43 alleyways.

CATs is sponsored by the Adopt-An-Alleyway Youth Empowerment Project (AAA), which is under the Chinatown Community Development Center (CCDC). The program was created in 2001 by Reverend Norman Fong with the goal of serving the Chinatown community by sharing to the general public the history of Chinatown, specifically the significance of the rich history of its alleyways.

Our tour participants will learn about the history and culture of Chinatown through our youth’s personal experience. The tours given by our youth leaders are an opportunity to educate others about the rich stories, history and significance of Chinatown, San Francisco, and Asian American history.
