December 4, 2014 Comic Lineup:

Guests:

Tim Messenger is a hilarious Denver based touring comedian. As an ex-international tax accountant, Tim delivers smart, thoughtful, and at times, absurdist comedy navigating between a number of comedic styles from biting sarcasm to an eccentric blend of silliness and wordplay. Tim has developed in Denver, Boston, and DC finding laughter in his abnormal view of the world. Tim has been invited to participate in a number of comedy festivals across the country including the Seattle International Comedy Competition, Boston Comedy Festival, High Plains Comedy Festival, World Series of Comedy, Laughlin Laugh Fest, Salt Lake City Comedy Carnivale, Cleveland Comedy Festival, Idaho Laugh Fest, Out of Bounds Comedy Festival, Granite State Comedy Festival, and even the Women in Comedy Festival. Tim was also a finalist for Funny or Die’s Road 2 Oddball and Comedy Works New Faces contest. See Tim take the stage at any of his upcoming performances.

Joey Devine is from the San Francisco Bay Area. He is the the head writer for Yahoo.com’s “Broken News Daily,” and you may recognize him from a McDonald’s commercial that airs on IFC during Portlandia reruns sometimes. If you’ve ever been to the San Francisco Punchline, Cobb’s Comedy Club, or his weekly show “Move Along Nothing To See Here: A Free Comedy Show” at The Night Light in Oakland, you might have seen him do stand up before. He’s pretty good at it or whatever.

Sacramento native, Alfonso Portela, is a nationally recognized barista. Alfonso is also a professional percussionist. Most relevant to this short bio, however, he’s a talented comedian. Much like his taste for playing all genres of music, his comedy too encompasses a variety of styles from short clever jokes to elaborate and animated vignettes. Winner of “Best New Comedian” at the Sacramento Comedy Festival, Alfonso has an inclusive style of comedy that appeals to everyone. Original, creative, and imaginative are the hallmarks of his material. He has become a staple at comedy shows in his area and has also performed at many of Northern California’s premier comedy clubs. He has a gap in his teeth. Don’t let it weird you out. It looks good.

Producers:

Kate Willett is a San Francisco based comedian and actress. She’s appeared in SF Sketchfest, the San Francisco Comedy Competition, and at clubs, theaters and dive bars all over. San Francisco Magazine says she’s a comedian you should know about and the SF Weekly says she’s one of the “strongest female figures in Bay Area Comedy”. As an actress, she has performed throughout the United States with companies such as Shakespeare and Company, Word for Word, Woman’s Will and the Samuel Beckett Theater in Dublin, Ireland. She’s also co-producer of a weekly show in Lost Weekend Video’s famous CineCave, and Live at Deluxe at Club Deluxe.

Trevor Hill is a stand-up comedian who sleeps in San Francisco and is awake in a variety of locations. He has performed at SF Sketchfest, the Great American Comedy Festival, Sacramento Comedy Festival, Shits & Giggles Comedy Fest, Cape Fear Comedy Fest, Minneapolis’ 10,000 Laughs Fest, as well as clubs and theaters throughout the United States and the UK. Trevor’s comedy has appeared on KOFY TV and has been featured in the San Francisco Chronicle, SF Weekly, SF Bay Guardian and Washington Post. He is the creator and host of the critically acclaimed, topic-based comedy show Hand to Mouth. His material ranges from political and social commentary to absurd vignettes about Bolivian Phil Collins fans and bayou-dwelling pornographers. He has been described as inventive, candid, engrossing and infertile.

Matt Lieb is a comedian, writer, actor and street musician/Bone Thugs-N-Harmony cover band. He was named “one of my all-time favorite Bay Area performers” by the award-winning SF blog Courting Comedy and described as “extremely talented, charmingly dark and genuinely pleasant”. He won 2nd place at the 2004 KZSC Comedy Competition, but the guy who won 1st place no longer does comedy so Matt basically won 1st place. He also won 1st place at the 2013 Rooster-T-Feathers Comedy Competition, which was very validating for him. Matt Lieb has opened for many legendary performers including W. Kamau Bell, Ryan Papazian, Jeff Anaya and 3rd Eye Blind. He is also Glenn Danzig’s neighbor and Emmy-winner Camryn Manheim is a family friend. He writes for Filmdrunk. He has also performed at the Los Angeles Comedy Festival, SF Sketchfest, the Santa Cruz Fringe Festival, and the S.H.I.T.S & Giggles Comedy Festival in Arcata, California. He has 1,478 followers on twitter. If you play your cards right, you could be 1,479.

Jessica Sele is a deeply weird human being and stand-up comedian living in Oakland, CA. She frequently performs up and down the West Coast and sometimes in Fargo. Jessica co-produces a popular weekly alternative comedy show in San Francisco held at Lost Weekend Video’s CineCave. She can also be seen occasionally at the San Francisco Punch Line or at most other regular comedy shows in the Bay Area. Her subject material ranges from sexuality to living in the end times to mental health issues and their related substance abuse habits. Jessica’s comedy is often described as personal, emotionally raw, incisive and hilarious.
