Event Details

Glass Key Photo is proud to host Modern Landscape, a photo series by Marissa Rocke.

MODERN LANDSCAPE
The ideal natural Landscape is a faded vision of untouched, raw beauty. The infinite landscape is less of a reality as they expand your cities, roads and ambitions. The modern landscape is no longer so expansive; instead it is cluttered with cities, housing developments, feed lots, factories, power lines, fences and billboards. They have altered the natural landscape to suit your needs for better and for worse. Modern Landscape is presented as an environmental documentary about the overwhelming amount of road kill natural to the current landscapes. With the introduction of roads, automobiles and its endless expansion, currently 1 million animals are killed daily in the United States by encountering a vehicle. The resulting images in this series were made with Sinar 4×5 & Mamiya RB67 cameras. The project was completed over the course of six years, 30,000 miles, 47 states and 5 Canadian Providences.
