Join the American Bookbinders Museum for a monthly workshop to create your own Chicago Screw Post binding. It is named after the manufacturer, the Chicago Screw Company est. 1872. This hinged binding uses screw posts to secure its pages in lieu of a spine.

Screw post bindings are popular for legal bindings, sample books and photo albums. This is likely due to the fact that pages can easily be added or removed after it has been bound. Simply unscrew the posts and update the book’s contents.

In this class you will cut your book to size, glue its cover and endpapers, punch holes for the posts and insert the screws. What is conspicuously missing from this binding? Sewing!
