History for Half Pints (the kid kind, not the drinking kind) is a monthly family day at the California Historical Society in San Francisco, featuring music, games and of course, history.

The family day takes place every second Saturday of the month and is free with an RSVP, or if you’re a CHS member.

The California Historical Society is hosting its monthly family night, History for Half Pints, with arts, crafts, storytelling, music, and Mexican Mother’s Day in celebration of the mother of San Francisco, Juana Briones.

Free, but an RSVP is required.

Olga Loya, a fantastic storyteller, who infuses the spirit of Juana Briones in every story she tells, will be there. Folks from the National Park Service will share fun facts about the Anza trail and Juana Briones’ mother, Maria Ygnacia Ysidora Briones.

There will also be will be jewelry making, crepe flower making, and Mother’s Day card making. You can also learn about local herbs or write Juana a letter or draw a picture of Juana.

Explore the bilingual exhibit about one of California’s unsung pioneer heroes, Juana Briones y su California: Pionera, Fundadora, Curandera, and enjoy music, games, and more.
