Event Details

Richard Rothman will present a slideshow of the Mothers Building Murals, painted by Dorty W. Pubbinelli, and Helen K. Forbes and other lesser-known New Deal murals in San Francisco.

Richard Rothman is a native San Franciscan photographer specializing in preserving and saving the murals of the Work Progress Administration. Richard has documented the Mothers Building murals at SF Zoo, the George Washington High school murals, and other New Deal-era murals in San Francisco. The federal government’s WPA program helped to put artists to work during the depression of the 1930s.

This program is sponsored by Friends of the San Francisco Public Library.
