Mountain Lake Science Saturdays | Presidio

Mountain Lake Science Saturdays is a lively series of talks by scientists studying topics relating to the San Francisco natural wonder, Mountain Lake, and its ecological restoration.

On the second Saturday from May to October, gather at the lake to hear researchers from a variety of disciplines talk on topics ranging from Archaeology to Zooplankton. Here’s your chance to ask the experts your questions about the science being done to save this lake.

How to get there: Enter the Presidio on Park Presidio heading north and go just past Mountain Lake.

Underwater Species | Mountain Lake Science Saturdays | Presidio

Ever heard of a three-spined stickleback? What about a red-eared slider? Hint: it’s not a tiny hamburger.

If you want to learn more about what lives in the watery underworld of one of San Francisco’s only natural lakes, join aquatic ecologist Darren Fong to hear more about the past, present, and future of aquatic animals in Mountain Lake.

There will be snacks.
